I thank Tom Snow for his leadership and determination as founder and chair of Equality Australia. I was proud to work with Tom in the lead-up and during the successful yes vote that delivered marriage equality. Along with so many LGBTQIA+ Australians, I am grateful for his courage, tenacity, and generosity during a very challenging campaign. Tom has ensured the momentum for equality from achieving marriage equality continued with the formation of Equality Australia. As Equality Australia farewells Mr Snow as chair, he, his family and the community can be proud that Australia is a safer, fairer and more equal place for LGBTQIA+ people and their families. In a beautiful celebration on the improvements to the Marriage Act that Tom secured, he married his amazing husband, Doug Pengilly, just yesterday. I congratulate Tom and Doug. I thank Tom for his enduring commitment to fairness and equality for all.
