Research from the Trans Justice Project and Victorian Pride Lobby shows one in two trans Australians experienced some form of hate and one in 10 experienced violence in the past year, with nine out of 10 respondents saying they had seen hateful messages or comments online. The research shows that anti-trans hate has increased over recent years, with a concerted and sustained campaigns. This is shocking and has real impacts on trans people’s health and lives. It reinforces the need for law reform to better protect trans people and their families.
