Catastrophic fire danger is forecast for Sydney and surrounds on Tuesday for the first time ever, along with poor air quality affecting health. Across Sydney our hearts are with the communities impacted from these devastating bushfires. Many Sydneysiders come from these communities, and many have family and friends suffering as a result of them. We are all so grateful to the emergency services offices working around the clock.
This week in Parliament, I’ll make sure the Government knows that Sydneysiders are here to help however we can. We need a united response to the emergency. The unprecedented scale of these fires shows we all need to do much more to address climate change, which is causing eastern Australia to dry out and suffer more extreme weather.
