Voluntary Assisted Dying

Voluntary Assisted Dying

My Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill is expected to come up for debate in the Legislative Council very soon and opponents have geared up their campaign with an e-petition to the house, which has been signed by over 7,000 people.

But we know that the majority of people in this state want the Parliament to pass compassionate reform to help people at the end stage of a terminal illness, who are experiencing intolerable suffering, end that suffering. Bertie and Darcie Daniel have started their own e-petition in support of the bill and want you to sign to show that strong support. They lost their father Lawrie by suicide in 2016 after years of living with Multiple Sclerosis. He ended his life too soon; he should have been given the option to get help from a doctor when things got too bad.

Last year after over 100,000 people signed a petition presented to Parliament in support of the bill, the Legislative Assembly (Lower House) passed the legislation by 52 votes to 32. We want at least 50,000 signatures on this e-petition in the next two weeks to show the groundswell that we know is out there.

The VAD Bill must not be derailed at this last stage. Please add your name and share with your family and friends today > HERE.

Let's work together to celebrate and protect our great city!
