The NSW Government has accepted Greater Sydney Commission planning review report recommendations and work to amend planning controls will start straight away to allow larger-scale development, aiming to coordinate large-scale developments including the Powerhouse, Bays Precinct, Harbourside Shopping Centre, University of Technology Sydney, Star Casino and both the existing and future Fish Market with Pyrmont and the Western Harbour precinct to become the “gateway to the CBD”. The announcement includes fast-tracking investigation of a Pyrmont metro station.

Is this rebranding the former Bays Precinct and adding in a few other sites or a major shift to increase density and scale across Pyrmont, Ultimo and around Wentworth Park? I will monitor work from the Department of Planning and Environment for new planning rules and alert residents to any proposals.
